This verse is a concluding colophon rather than a doctrinal statement; it frames the preceding material as a Mokṣadharma-oriented dialogue, indicating that the chapter’s purpose is ethical and spiritual instruction aimed at liberation (mokṣa) through right understanding and conduct.
The text announces the completion of the 180th chapter in the Mokṣadharma section of the Śānti Parva, specifying that its subject was the dialogue between the jackal (gīdara) and the sage Kāśyapa, and marking the end of that chapter’s discourse.
