Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)

स्वभावादेव संदृश्या वर्तमाना: प्रवृत्तय: । स्वभावनिरता: सर्वाः परितुष्येन्न केनचित्‌

svabhāvādeva saṃdṛśyā vartamānāḥ pravṛttayaḥ | svabhāvaniratāḥ sarvāḥ parituṣyenna kenacit ||

«Il faut comprendre que c’est par la nature même—façonnée par les actes passés—que se manifestent au présent les tendances que l’on observe chez les êtres. Toutes les créatures demeurent prises dans leur propre nature et n’ont pas d’autre refuge. Ayant saisi cette vérité subtile, l’homme ne doit pas se complaire en une “satisfaction” quelle que soit sa condition.»
