प्रजाविसर्ग-तत्त्वनिर्णयः | Cosmogony of Elemental Emergence

को हि जानाति कस्याद्य मृत्युकालो भविष्यति । (न मृत्युरामन्त्रयते हर्तुकामो जगत्प्रभु: । अबुद्ध एवाक्रमते मीनान् मीनग्रहो यथा ।।
ko hi jānāti kasyādya mṛtyukālo bhaviṣyati | na mṛtyur āmantrayate hartukāmo jagatprabhuḥ | abuddha evākramate mīnān mīnagraho yathā || yuvāiva dharmaśīlaḥ syād anityaṃ khalu jīvitam | kṛte dharme bhavet kīrtir iha pretya ca vai sukham ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Qui peut savoir à qui viendra l’heure de mourir, fût-ce aujourd’hui même ? La Mort, souveraine du monde entier, lorsqu’elle veut emporter quelqu’un, n’envoie pas d’invitation au préalable. Elle frappe en demeurant invisible, comme le pêcheur qui saisit soudain les poissons. C’est pourquoi il faut s’attacher au dharma dès la jeunesse, car la vie est vraiment impermanente. Quand le dharma est pratiqué, il donne la bonne renommée ici-bas et le bonheur après la mort.»
