Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)
सखायं मे सुदयितं गौतमं जीवयेत्युत । तदनन्तर राजधर्मा बकने इन्द्रको प्रणाम करके कहा--'सुरेश्वर! यदि आपकी मुझपर कृपा है तो मेरे प्रिय मित्र गौतमको भी जीवित कर दीजिये”
sakhāyaṃ me sudayitaṃ gautamaṃ jīvayety uta |
Bhīṣma dit : «Si vous daignez m’accorder cette grâce, que mon ami très cher, Gautama, soit lui aussi rendu à la vie.» Cette demande met en lumière la loyauté et la gratitude : le suppliant ne recherche pas un bienfait pour lui seul, mais implore que la compassion s’étende à un compagnon chéri.
