Greed is identified as a root cause that generates anger, and anger grows stronger when one fixates on others’ faults; therefore, ethical living requires restraining desire and avoiding fault-finding that fuels resentment.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and inner peace, Bhishma teaches Yudhishthira about the psychological chain of vices—how greed gives rise to anger and how criticism of others becomes a trigger that intensifies it.
