इमं क्षितितले त्यक्त्वा बाल॑ रूपसमन्वितम्,यह सुन्दर बालक तुम्हारे कुलकी शोभा बढ़ानेवाला है। यह रूप और यौवनसे सम्पन्न है तथा अपनी कान्तिसे प्रकाशित हो रहा है। मूर्खो! इस पुत्रको पृथ्वीपर डालकर तुम कहाँ जाओगे?
imaṃ kṣititale tyaktvā bāla-rūpa-samanvitam | yaḥ sundaraḥ bālakaḥ tumhāre kulakī śobhā baḍhāne-vālā hai | ayaṃ rūpa-yauvanena sampannaḥ tathā svayā kāntyā prakāśitaḥ | mūrkhāḥ! asya putrasya pṛthivyāṃ nikṣepya yūyaṃ kva gamiṣyatha?
Jambuka dit : «Après avoir jeté à terre cet enfant—revêtu de la forme d’un jeune garçon—où pensez-vous aller ? Ce beau garçon accroîtra la gloire de votre lignée. Il est pourvu de beauté et de jeunesse, et il rayonne de son propre éclat. Ô insensés ! Après avoir abandonné ce fils sur la terre, quel refuge, quelle destination pourriez-vous encore prétendre?»
