शल्मलि–पवनसंवादः
The Dialogue of Śalmali and Pavana
ईदृशेनैव तपसा गच्छेयं परमां गतिम् । इति बुद्धया विनिश्चित्य गमनायोपचक्रमे
īdṛśenaiva tapasā gaccheyaṃ paramāṃ gatim | iti buddhyā viniścitya gamanāyopacakrame |
Bhishma dit : « Par une austérité de cette même nature, moi aussi j’atteindrai l’état suprême. » Ayant arrêté cette résolution avec fermeté par son propre discernement, l’oiseleur—qui vivait des oiseaux—quitta ce lieu, prenant appui sur la voie du Grand Départ. Il renonça à tout effort, vécut en ne “buvant” que l’air, et, poussé par le désir du ciel, retira de toute chose le sentiment du “mien”.
