Daṇḍa as the Foundation of Social Order (दण्डप्रतिष्ठा)
विधान दैवविदहितं तत्र विद्वान् न मुहाृति । यथा सृष्टोडसि राजेन्द्र तथा भवितुमरहसि
vidhānaṁ daivavihitaṁ tatra vidvān na muhyati | yathā sṛṣṭo ’si rājendra tathā bhavitum arhasi ||
«Ceci est une ordonnance établie par le destin ; aussi l’homme sage n’en est-il pas abusé. Ô le meilleur des rois, tel que le Créateur t’a façonné—te plaçant dans ta naissance, ta lignée et ton rang—tel il convient que tu sois : agis selon la nature et le devoir (dharma) qui t’ont été impartis.»
