Hunter’s Remorse and Renunciatory Resolve
As a colophon, the verse itself does not state a new doctrine; it marks the completion of a discourse on Āpaddharma—how dharma is to be understood and applied under extreme hardship—presented through the Viśvāmitra–Caṇḍāla dialogue within Bhīṣma’s instruction.
The text is concluding the chapter: it announces that the 141st chapter, whose subject is the dialogue between Viśvāmitra and a Caṇḍāla, has ended within the Āpaddharma section of the Śānti Parva.
