Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
yad bhavān āha tat sarvaṃ mayā te lomaśa śrutam | mamāpi tāvad bruvataḥ śṛṇu yat pratibhāti me ||
The verse models dhārmic dialogue: first, careful listening to another’s words, and then offering one’s own considered insight. It emphasizes respectful exchange and reflective speech.
Bhishma addresses the sage Lomaśa, acknowledging that he has heard Lomaśa’s entire statement attentively, and then asks Lomaśa to listen as Bhishma presents what has arisen in his own mind.
