Āśā-prabhava (आशाप्रभव) — On the Rise and Power of Hope/Expectation

Sumitra Itihāsa Begins

आत्मनस्तु ततः श्रेयो भार्गवात्‌ सुमहातपा: । ज्ञानमागमयत् प्रीत्या पुन: स परमद्युति:,तब परम तेजस्वी महातपस्वी इन्द्रने प्रसन्नता-पूर्वक शुक्राचार्यसे पुन: अपने लिये श्रेयका ज्ञान प्राप्त किया

ātmanaḥ tu tataḥ śreyo bhārgavāt sumahātapāḥ | jñānam āgamayat prītyā punaḥ sa paramadyutiḥ ||

Puis, pour son bien le plus élevé, ce grand ascète, rayonnant d’un éclat suprême, retourna—le cœur heureux et respectueux—auprès de Bhārgava (Śukrācārya) et reçut de lui la connaissance de ce qui est véritablement profitable. Le vers souligne que même les puissants doivent, à maintes reprises, revenir vers les maîtres sages afin d’apprendre la voie du salut et de la conduite droite.
