Daṇḍa-svarūpa-nirūpaṇa
The Nature, Forms, and Function of Daṇḍa
This line is not a doctrinal verse but a colophon: it formally signals the completion of a chapter within the Śānti Parva’s instruction on rājadharma (the ethical duties and responsibilities of a ruler).
The text is concluding a chapter of Bhīṣma’s extended counsel to Yudhiṣṭhira on statecraft and righteous governance; the colophon identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the parva (Śānti), the subsection (Rājadharmānuśāsana), and the chapter number.
