Nakula’s Counsel on Yajña, Dāna, and Tyāga (नकुलोपदेशः—यज्ञदानत्यागविचारः)
ब्राह्मणा:श्रुतिसम्पन्नास्तानू निबोध नराधिप | यह गृहस्थ-आश्रम सब आश्रमोंसे ऊँचा है। यह बात वेदोंके सिद्धान्तको जाननेवाले श्रुतिसम्पन्न ब्राह्मण कहते हैं। नरेश्वरर आप उनकी सेवामें उपस्थित होकर इस बातको समझिये
brāhmaṇāḥ śrutisampannās tānū nibodha narādhipa | yaḥ gṛhasthāśramaḥ sarvāśramebhya ūrdhvaḥ | etad vedasiddhāntajñāḥ śrutisampannā brāhmaṇā vadanti | nareśvara, teṣāṃ sevāyāṃ upasthitaḥ san etad avagaccha ||
Nakula dit : «Ô roi, apprends ceci des brahmanes accomplis dans l’étude des Veda. L’état de maître de maison (gṛhastha) est tenu pour supérieur à tous les autres āśrama. Telle est la déclaration des brahmanes versés dans les Veda et dans leurs conclusions établies. C’est pourquoi, ô seigneur des hommes, mets-toi à leur service et saisis cette vérité.»
