Vyāghra–Gomāyu Saṃvāda (व्याघ्रगोमायु संवाद) — Testing Character Beneath Appearances
This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it frames the surrounding material as instruction on rājadharma (the ethical duties of kings) conveyed through a didactic dialogue (Vyāpra and Gomāyu), emphasizing that political power is to be guided by dharma.
Bhīṣma’s discourse to Yudhiṣṭhira continues in the Śānti Parva; here the text marks the close of a chapter within the rājadharma instruction section, identifying it as the conclusion of the Vyāpra–Gomāyu dialogue and numbering it as the 111th chapter.
