Nīti-upadeśa to a Rājaputra: Self-restraint, Alliances, and Rival-Management (नीतिउपदेशः)
This line is a colophon marking the end of a chapter within Bhīṣma’s instruction on rājadharma. Its function is structural: it situates the teaching within Śānti Parva and the Rājadharma instruction section, emphasizing the Mahābhārata’s didactic organization of ethical guidance for rulers.
Bhīṣma’s discourse continues as the overarching narrative frame, but this particular verse does not advance plot; it formally closes the chapter identified as ‘Kālaka-Vṛkṣīya’ and signals the transition to the next unit of instruction.
