संदर्शेनेव सेनाया भयं भीरून् प्रबाधते | वज्रादिव प्रज्वलितादियं क्व नु पतिष्यति,शत्रुकी सेनाको देखते ही कायरोंको भय सताने लगता है, मानो उनके ऊपर प्रज्वलित वज्र गिरनेवाला हो। वे सोचते हैं, न जाने यह सेना किसके ऊपर पड़ेगी?
saṁdarśanenaiva senāyā bhayaṁ bhīrūn prabādhate | vajrādiva prajvalitād iyaṁ kva nu patiṣyati ||
Bhīṣma déclara : «À la seule vue d’une armée, la peur accable les timorés. C’est comme si un foudre embrasé allait s’abattre sur eux ; et ils ne cessent de se demander : “Sur qui donc cette troupe va-t-elle fondre ?”»
