उत्साहश्व कृतो नित्यं मया दिष्ट्या युयुत्सता । दिष्ट्या चास्मिन्‌ हतो युद्धे निहतज्ञातिबान्धव:

«C’est une bénédiction que, animé du désir de combattre, j’aie toujours entretenu l’ardeur et l’élan. Et c’est encore une bénédiction que, dans cette guerre, je sois tombé, après la mort de mes parents et alliés ; que je rende moi-même mon souffle sur le champ de bataille m’apporte une satisfaction singulière.»
