Sārasvata–Dadhīca Upākhyāna at Sarasvatī Tīrtha

Balarāma’s Pilgrimage Context

Educational Q&A

The verse suggests that even the highest, most lavish Vedic sacrifices (with abundant golden dakṣiṇā) are not the sole measure of spiritual eminence; Jaigīṣavya’s presence in those exalted realms implies a superior, more stable attainment—often associated with inner discipline, wisdom, and ascetic realization beyond ritual merit alone.

Vaiśampāyana reports a vision/observation of Jaigīṣavya appearing in the worlds reached by great sacrificers—those who perform the Vājapeya, and likewise those who perform the Rājasūya and Puṇḍarīka rites—indicating Jaigīṣavya’s exceptional status across multiple high-merit heavenly domains.
