देवता अपने हाथोंमें नाना प्रकारके अस्त्र-शस्त्र ले उन दैत्योंका पीछा करने लगे। यह सब देखकर तेज और बलसे सम्पन्न भगवान् स्कन्द कुपित हो उठे और शक्ति नामक भयानक अस्त्रका बारंबार प्रयोग करने लगे। उन्होंने उसमें अपना तेज स्थापित कर दिया था और वे उस समय घीसे प्रज्वलित हुई अग्निके समान प्रकाशित हो रहे थे ।। अभ्यस्यमाने शकक््त्यस्त्रे स्कन्देनामिततेजसा । उल्काज्वाला महाराज पपात वसुधातले

Vaiśampāyana dit : Les dieux, les mains chargées d’armes diverses, se mirent à poursuivre ces Daityas. Voyant cela, le divin Skanda, riche de splendeur et de force, s’emporta et usa maintes fois de l’arme redoutable nommée Śakti. Il y avait établi son propre tejas, et, en cet instant, il brillait comme un feu attisé par le ghee. Tandis que Skanda, d’un éclat sans mesure, lançait sans cesse la Śakti, sa flamme tomba sur la terre comme un météore, ô roi.
