अध्याय ४ — दुर्योधनस्य असंधि-निश्चयः
Duryodhana’s Refusal of Reconciliation
आत्मनोडर्थे त्वया लोको यत्नतः सर्व आहृत: । स ते संशायितस्तात आत्मा वै भरतर्षभ
ātmanaḥ arthe tvayā loko yatnataḥ sarva āhṛtaḥ | sa te saṁśāyitas tāta ātmā vai bharatarṣabha ||
Sañjaya dit : «Ô taureau parmi les Bharata, pour ta propre sécurité tu as, avec grand effort, rassemblé des hommes de tous les horizons. Et pourtant, mon cher, c’est ta vie même qui, à présent, est tombée dans l’incertitude.»
संजय उवाच
Power and alliances gathered for self-protection do not guarantee safety; in war, the very life one tries to secure can become precarious, highlighting the limits of control and the ethical weight of decisions that lead to conflict.
Sañjaya addresses a Bharata leader, remarking that although he had laboriously assembled people from everywhere for his own defense, the situation has turned so dire that his own life is now in doubt.
