त॑ ज्ञात्वा पतितं कूपे भ्रातरावेकतद्वितौ । वृकत्रासाच्च लोभाच्च समुत्सृज्य प्रजग्मतु:,अपने भाईको कुएँमें गिरा हुआ जानकर भी दोनों भाई एकत और द्वित भेड़ियेके भय और लोभसे उन्हें वहीं छोड़कर चल दिये
taṁ jñātvā patitaṁ kūpe bhrātarāv ekatadvitau | vṛkatrāsāc ca lobhāc ca samutsṛjya prajagmatuḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana dit : Sachant que leur frère était tombé dans un puits, les deux frères, Ekat et Dvit, l’y abandonnèrent et s’en allèrent, poussés par la peur des loups et par la cupidité.
