बृंहन्ति कुञ्जरास्तत्र हया ह्रेषन्ति चासकृत् । शस्त्राणि सम्प्रदीप्यन्ते पाण्डवानां जयैषिणाम्,उस समय वहाँ विजयाभिलाषी पाण्डवोंके हाथी बारंबार चिग्घाड़ने और घोड़े हिनहिनाने लगे। साथ ही उनके अस्त्र-शस्त्र दीप्तिसे प्रकाशित हो उठे
bṛṁhanti kuñjarās tatra hayā hreṣanti cāsakṛt | śastrāṇi sampradīpyante pāṇḍavānāṁ jayaiṣiṇām ||
Duryodhana dit : « Là-bas, les éléphants des Pāṇḍava, avides de victoire, se mirent à barrir puissamment, et leurs chevaux hennirent à maintes reprises. En même temps, leurs armes flamboyèrent d’un éclat vif—signe funeste d’une résolution guerrière ranimée, tandis que se resserraient les enjeux moraux et stratégiques de la bataille. »
