यस्तेषां तदवस्थानां द्रह्ेत पुरुषोडनृजु: । व्यक्ते स नरके मज्जेदगाधे विपुले5प्लवे
yas teṣāṃ tad-avasthānāṃ drakṣet puruṣo 'nṛjuḥ | vyakte sa narake majjed agādhe vipule 'plave, prabho ||
Ô seigneur, si dans cet état—alors qu’ils gisent sans soupçon—un homme cruel et retors les regarde avec l’intention de les trahir et de leur nuire, il sombrera à coup sûr en enfer : un océan vaste et profond, sans barque pour le sauver.
कृप उवाच
The verse teaches that treacherously harming enemies who are helpless (asleep, unarmed, unsuspecting) violates dharma and leads to severe karmic consequence, symbolized as sinking into a vast, boatless ocean of hell.
Kṛpa warns his lord that the Pañcālas are likely sleeping at night after removing armor and becoming unwary; he cautions that betraying and attacking them in that state is a grievous adharma that condemns the perpetrator to hell.
