Adhyāya 52 (Sabhā-parva): Vidura Invites Yudhiṣṭhira to Hastināpura for the Dice Match
The verse highlights how royal power is displayed through public assembly and the offering of treasures. Ethically, it points to the allure of wealth and prestige in political life—factors that can intensify envy and rivalry when treated as measures of worth.
Duryodhana is describing the grand gathering: many groups have arrived from all directions, and noble kings have presented valuable gifts/treasures at the venue, underscoring the scale and splendor of the occasion.
