जरासंधरथं कृष्णो योजयित्वा पताकिनम् | आरोप्य भ्रातरौ चैव मोक्षयामास बान्धवान्,श्रीकृष्णने जरासंधके ध्वजा-पताकामण्डित दिव्य रथको जोत लिया और उसपर दोनों भाई भीमसेन और अर्जुनको बिठाकर पहाड़ी खोहके पास जा वहाँ कैदमें पड़े हुए अपने बान्धवस्वरूप समस्त राजाओंको छुड़ाया
jarāsandharathaṃ kṛṣṇo yojayitvā patākinam | āropya bhrātarau caiva mokṣayāmāsa bāndhavān |
Vaiśampāyana dit : Kṛṣṇa attela le char de Jarāsandha, orné de bannières ; y fit asseoir les deux frères, puis délivra les siens—ces rois alliés retenus captifs.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma as active protection: power and strategy are to be used to end wrongful captivity and restore the dignity and freedom of those unjustly oppressed, especially one’s allies and dependents.
Kṛṣṇa takes Jarāsandha’s bannered chariot, seats the two brothers on it (identified in the Gītā Press gloss as Bhīma and Arjuna), and proceeds to release the captive allied kings—described as his bāndhavas—from imprisonment.
