Jarā’s Account and the Enthronement of Jarāsandha (जरासंधोत्पत्तिः अभिषेकश्च)
ततः सा राक्षसी राजन् विस्मयोत्फुल्ललोचना । न शशाक समुद्वोढुं वज़सारमयं शिशुम्
tataḥ sā rākṣasī rājan vismayotphullalocanā | na śaśāka samudvoḍhuṃ vajrasāramayaṃ śiśum |
Alors cette rākṣasī, ô Roi, les yeux écarquillés d’étonnement, ne put soulever ni emporter le nourrisson, car l’enfant semblait fait de l’essence même d’une force adamantine, telle le vajra de la foudre.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Predatory strength and harmful intent can be rendered powerless when confronted by a higher, protective force; the vulnerable (here, an infant) may be safeguarded by an order that frustrates adharma.
A rākṣasī, astonished with eyes wide open, tries to lift and carry off an infant but cannot, because the child seems as hard and unmovable as something made of vajra—adamantine thunderbolt essence.
