tataḥ śabdo mahān āsīd vasudevaniveśane | dāruṇaḥ krośatīnāṃ ca rudatīnāṃ ca yoṣitām ||
Alors un grand tumulte s’éleva dans la demeure de Vasudeva. Le son, âpre et terrifiant, n’était autre que la lamentation des femmes, criant et pleurant.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even mighty lineages and secure households can be overturned when destructive forces—born of accumulated karma and loss of restraint—ripen; the verse underscores impermanence and the ethical cost of collective downfall.
Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that a loud, dreadful commotion erupts in Vasudeva’s home, caused by women crying and weeping—an immediate scene of panic and mourning in the wake of calamity.
