Shloka 91

वे बाण नहीं, तक्षकपुत्र अश्वसेनके पक्षपाती पाँच विशाल सर्प थे। अर्जुनने सावधानीसे छोड़े गये दस भल्लोंद्वारा उनमेंसे प्रत्येकके तीन-तीन टुकड़े कर डाले। अर्जुनके बाणोंसे मारे जाकर वे पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े ।।

tataḥ prajajvāla kirīṭamālī krodhena kakṣaṁ pradahann ivāgniḥ | tathā vinunnāṅgam avekṣya kṛṣṇaṁ sarveṣubhiḥ karṇabhujaprasṛṣṭaiḥ ||

Sañjaya dit : Ces traits n’étaient pas de simples flèches, mais cinq serpents gigantesques—Aśvasena, fils de Takṣaka—partisans et inclinés d’un côté. Arjuna, avec prudence, lança dix bhallas et mit chacun d’eux en trois morceaux ; frappés à mort par les flèches d’Arjuna, ils tombèrent sur la terre. Alors Arjuna, le guerrier au diadème, s’embrasa de colère tel un feu qui consume un tas de bois sec ou d’herbe desséchée. Voyant le corps de Kṛṣṇa blessé par toutes ces flèches parties des bras puissants de Karṇa, la fureur d’Arjuna s’enflamma—élan de protection et de juste résolution envers son cocher et guide au cœur des dures lois de la guerre.
