हिरण्यवर्मा निशितै: पृषत्कै- स्तवात्मजानामनिलात्मजो वै । अतापयत् सैन्यमतीव भीम: काले शुचौ मध्यगतो यथार्क:,जैसे आषाढ़मासमें दोपहरका सूर्य अत्यन्त ताप प्रदान करता है, उसी प्रकार सुवर्णकवचधारी वायुपुत्र भीमसेन आपके पुत्रोंकी सेनाको तीखे बाणोंद्वारा अधिक संताप देने लगे

hiraṇyavarmā niśitaiḥ pṛṣatkaiḥ tavātmajānām anilātmajo vai |
atāpayat sainyam atīva bhīmaḥ kāle śucau madhyagato yathārkaḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Revêtu d’une armure d’or, Bhima—fils du Vent—brûla l’armée de tes fils de flèches acérées, la tourmentant avec une violence extrême, tel le soleil de midi, en saison claire, qui consume d’une ardeur farouche. L’image souligne la puissance écrasante, presque inévitable, de l’assaut de Bhima.
