त्वां हि प्राप्य रणे क्षत्रमेकाहादिति भारत
tvāṃ hi prāpya raṇe kṣatram ekāhād iti bhārata
Sañjaya dit : «Car, t’ayant rencontré au combat, ô Bhārata, le devoir du guerrier s’accomplit—fût-ce en un seul jour.»
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores kṣatriya-dharma: a warrior’s identity and obligation are realized through facing worthy opposition in battle, where duty is measured by steadfast action rather than duration.
Sañjaya, reporting the battlefield events to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, frames the encounter with a formidable opponent as so decisive that merely meeting him in combat can be spoken of as completing the warrior’s task within a single day.
