Arjuna Breaks the Encirclement; Bhīma Reinforces
पार्थश्व पुरुषव्याप्र: शरै: संनतपर्वभि: । जघान धार्तराष्ट्रस्य चतुर्विधबलां चमूम्,पुरुषसिंह पार्थने झुकी हुई गाँठवाले बाणोंद्वारा दुर्योधनकी चतुरंगिणी सेनाका संहार कर डाला
pārthaś ca puruṣavyāghraḥ śaraiḥ sannatapārṇibhiḥ | jaghāna dhārtarāṣṭrasya caturvidhabalāṃ camūm ||
Sañjaya dit : Alors Pārtha (Arjuna), tigre parmi les hommes, de ses flèches dont les hampes se courbaient aux jointures, abattit et disloqua l’armée aux quatre corps du fils de Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the decisive power of disciplined martial excellence in a dharma-framed war, while implicitly pointing to the ethical weight of warfare: victory achieved through skill still entails vast destruction and responsibility.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna (Pārtha) uses his arrows to devastate Duryodhana’s fourfold Kaurava army—chariots, elephants, cavalry, and infantry—marking a major surge in the battle’s intensity.
