जघान बहुसाहस्रान् योधान् युद्धविशारदान् | महाराज! तदनन्तर प्रतापी सूतपुत्रने कई हजार युद्धकुशल योद्धाओंको मार डाला
jaghāna bahusāhasrān yodhān yuddhaviśāradān | mahārāja! tad-anantaraṁ pratāpī sūtaputraḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Ô roi, ensuite le vaillant fils du cocher (Karṇa), flamboyant de prouesse, abattit plusieurs milliers de guerriers rompus au combat.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical gravity of war: even when combat is framed as kṣatriya-duty, the slaughter of countless skilled warriors reveals the tragic cost of conflict and the heavy responsibility of those who command and fight.
Sañjaya reports to King Dhṛtarāṣṭra that, after the preceding event, Karna (called sūtaputra) displayed great valor and killed many thousands of battle-expert warriors on the battlefield.
