श्रूयन्ते विविधा राजन् नामान्युद्धिश्य भारत । भरतवंशी नरेश! उस समय नाम ले-लेकर गरजते हुए शूरवीरोंकी भाँति-भाँतिकी बातें अविच्छिन्न-रूपसे सुनायी पड़ती थीं
śrūyante vividhā rājan nāmāny uddiśya bhārata | bharatavaṃśī nareśa! usa samaya nāma le-lekara garjate hue śūravīroṃ kī bhānti-bhānti kī bāteṃ avicchinna-rūpa se sunāyī paṛtī thīṃ
Sañjaya dit : «Ô roi, ô Bharata, on entendait des cris de toutes sortes—des guerriers rugissant en appelant des noms. Ô souverain de la lignée de Bharata, alors le champ de bataille retentissait sans cesse de clameurs et de répliques variées, telles les appels tonitruants de héros se nommant l’un l’autre.»
