अभ्यवर्तन्महाबाहु: सूर्यवैश्वानरप्रभ: । सूर्य और अग्निके समान तेजस्वी और शस्त्र-धारियोंमें श्रेष्ठ महाबाहु कर्ण रोष और जोशमें भरकर सेनापतिकी रक्षामें तत्पर हुए आपके पुत्रोंके साथ प्रमुख भागमें स्थित हो कौरव-सेनाको अपने साथ खींचता हुआ बड़ी शोभा पा रहा था, वह शत्रुओंके सामने डटा हुआ था

Sañjaya dit : Alors Karṇa aux bras puissants—rayonnant comme le Soleil et le feu sacré—s’élança en avant, empli de colère et d’ardeur.
