कर्णभीमसमागमः | Karṇa–Bhīma Encounter
यत्रास्मि भरतश्रेष्ठ योग्य: कर्मणि कहिचित् । तत्र सर्वात्मना युक्तो वक्ष्ये कार्यधुरं तव
yatrāsmi bharataśreṣṭha yogyaḥ karmaṇi kvacit | tatra sarvātmanā yukto vakṣye kāryadhuraṃ tava ||
Śalya dit : «Ô le meilleur des Bhārata, où que ce soit et quand que ce soit, si je suis apte à quelque tâche, alors—dès lors que tu m’y auras nommé—je porterai, de tout mon être et d’un dévouement sans partage, le fardeau de ce devoir pour toi.»
शल्य उवाच
The verse emphasizes wholehearted acceptance of assigned duty: competence should be offered in service, and once entrusted with responsibility, one should carry it with full commitment (sarvātmanā), without half-heartedness.
Śalya addresses the leader he calls “best of the Bharatas,” offering his readiness to take up whatever role he is suited for. It functions as a pledge of cooperation and willingness to shoulder responsibility within the war-time command structure.
