The verse highlights the dharma of steadfast support: as Kṛṣṇa safeguards Arjuna through counsel and expert charioteering, so a leader’s aide must protect his warrior in every way. It frames protection and competent guidance as moral responsibilities that shape the outcome of battle.
Sañjaya reports an exhortation comparing Kṛṣṇa’s role for Arjuna with the role expected of Karna’s supporter: the speaker urges that Karna (Rādheya) be guarded on all sides, emphasizing the strategic and ethical importance of the charioteer/counsellor in the Kurukṣetra war.
