Chapter 29: Karṇa recalls curses to Śalya and declares resolve for battle

Even in a war driven by the desire for victory, human action is constrained by larger rhythms—time, daylight, and cosmic order. The sunset functions as a moral and practical boundary, tempering relentless aggression and signaling a pause that can invite reflection and restraint.
As the Kaurava forces are actively engaged in battle and striving for victory, the Sun sets behind the western mountain/horizon. This marks the close of the day’s fighting and serves as a transition point in Sañjaya’s report to Dhṛtarāṣṭra.
