The verse highlights the warrior-ethic of receiving a battle summons as an honor, while also showing Arjuna’s reverent orientation toward Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana). It frames action in war not merely as aggression but as a duty-bound response, undertaken with awareness of divine guidance.
Sañjaya narrates that Arjuna is called (through an ‘ācārya’s son’ acting as intermediary) with the intention of engaging in battle. Arjuna takes this as good fortune and then addresses Kṛṣṇa, setting up Arjuna’s forthcoming speech in the next lines.
