अहो शौर्येण सम्पन्नावुभौ चोग्रपराक्रमौ । अहो भीमबलो भीम एतस्य च कृतास्त्रता,“भयंकर पराक्रम दिखानेवाले ये दोनों योद्धा अद्भुत शौर्यशाली हैं। अहो! भीमसेनका बल भयंकर है। इनका अस्त्रज्ञान अद्भुत है!
aho śauryeṇa sampannāv ubhau cogra-parākramau | aho bhīma-balo bhīma etasya ca kṛtāstratā ||
Sañjaya dit : « Ah, merveille ! Ces deux guerriers sont comblés d’héroïsme et possèdent une puissance farouche, terrible. Ah ! La force de Bhīma est vraiment redoutable, et la maîtrise des armes de celui-ci est remarquable. » Dans l’atmosphère morale de la guerre, ces mots soulignent que l’excellence martiale peut susciter l’admiration au cœur même du désastre, tout en laissant entendre l’ironie tragique : ces vertus se dépensent dans une lutte fratricide.
