As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; instead it frames the war episode within a disciplined textual order. By naming the parva and the theme (duel-combat) alongside Jayadratha’s death-context, it implicitly invites ethical reflection: even in chaos, actions are recorded, judged, and situated within dharma and consequence.
This is the formal closing line of the chapter: Sañjaya signals that the ninety-sixth chapter (on duel-fighting) within the Jayadratha-slaying section of the Droṇa Parva has ended.
