This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it teaches the importance of framing and accountability in narration—war events are preserved as structured testimony (Sañjaya’s words), reminding readers that actions in battle are recorded, evaluated, and remembered within a dharmic-historical lens.
The chapter concludes. The text signals that, within Droṇa Parva and the Jayadratha-slaying section, Sañjaya’s narration has completed the eighty-sixth chapter, formally closing that unit of the war account.
