Kṛṣṇopadeśa and Duryodhana’s Challenge
Droṇa-parva, Adhyāya 77
Ô Hṛṣīkeśa, sachant mon dessein et ma force, pourquoi me blâmes-Tu encore, ô Seigneur ?»
The verse highlights reliance on divine grace as a source of courage and capacity in righteous struggle, while also showing that even a devoted hero may question stern guidance; reproach from a trusted guide can function as ethical correction rather than mere blame.
In the midst of the Drona Parva’s intense fighting, Arjuna addresses Kṛṣṇa as his charioteer and divine ally, asserting that with Kṛṣṇa’s favor nothing in battle should be unbearable for him, and he asks why Kṛṣṇa still speaks in a reproving manner despite knowing Arjuna’s situation.
