Kṛṣṇopadeśa and Duryodhana’s Challenge
Droṇa-parva, Adhyāya 77
ब्राह्मेणास्त्रेण चास्त्राणि हन्यमानानि संयुगे | मया द्रष्टासि सर्वेषां सैन्धवस्याभिरक्षिणाम्,जयद्रथके समस्त रक्षकोंद्वारा छोड़े हुए अस्त्रोंको मैं युद्धमें ब्रह्मास्त्रद्वारा काट डालूँगा, यह आप देखेंगे
arjuna uvāca | brāhmeṇāstreṇa cāstrāṇi hanyamānāni saṃyuge | mayā draṣṭāsi sarveṣāṃ saindhavasya abhirakṣiṇām ||
Arjuna dit : «Au plus fort du combat, je trancherai, par l’Arme de Brahmā (Brahmāstra), tous les traits et projectiles lancés. Tu me verras neutraliser chaque arme décochée par ceux qui se dressent en protecteurs de Jayadratha.»
अजुन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined power: even overwhelming force (celestial weapons) is framed as controlled, purposeful action in a dharmic context—Arjuna’s resolve is not random violence but a vow-bound effort to overcome obstruction and restore moral order in war.
Arjuna declares that he will counter and destroy, using the Brahmā-weapon, the many missiles launched by the warriors guarding Jayadratha, asserting that the listener will witness his ability to break through their protective barrage.
