The verse presents a model of action framed as obedience to a higher authority: a tremendous act of warfare is portrayed as being carried out under Indra’s prompting, shifting emphasis from personal vengeance to divinely directed duty and the idea that power should be exercised under legitimate command.
Sañjaya recounts a past exploit: a warrior, urged by Indra, destroyed thousands of Hiraṇyapura-dwelling Dānavas using only a single chariot—highlighting extraordinary martial prowess and the cosmic conflict between Devas and their adversaries.
