Droṇa-parva Adhyāya 37: Sañjaya’s Account of Abhimanyu’s Precision Disruption of a Chariot Contingent
The verse highlights the impersonal momentum of war: coordinated formations and massed volleys can overwhelm an individual. Ethically, it underscores how collective strategy in battle can eclipse personal valor, reminding readers that warfare magnifies harm through organization and numbers.
Sañjaya reports that a group of warriors boxed in a particular fighter by forming a chariot line around him and then unleashed concentrated, varied volleys of arrows—an image of tactical encirclement followed by sustained missile attack.
