Abhimanyu advances toward Droṇa’s host
etya no nārjuno gāhayed yathā tāta tathā kuru | cakravyūhasya na vayaṁ vidmo bhedaṁ kathaṁcana ||
In a moment of tactical and moral crisis, the verse highlights the necessity of competent leadership and truthful assessment of one’s limits: without the requisite knowledge, one should seek the guidance of the truly capable rather than act from pride or haste.
Sañjaya reports a decision that the warriors should have Arjuna come and lead them into/through the cakravyūha, because they themselves do not know how to breach that formidable circular formation.
