नालक्षयत तत् कश्रनिद् वारुणास्त्रेण संवृतम् । अर्जुनस्य लघुत्वाच्च संवृतत्वाच्च तेजस:,एक तो अर्जुनने बड़ी फुर्ती की थी, दूसरे भीमसेनपर उस अस्त्रके तेजका आवरण था, इससे कोई भी यह देख न सका कि भीमसेन वारुणास्त्रसे घिरे हुए हैं

nālakṣayata tat kaścid vāruṇāstreṇa saṃvṛtam |
arjunasya laghutvāc ca saṃvṛtatvāc ca tejasāḥ |
Sañjaya dit : Nul ne s’aperçut que (Bhīmasena) était enveloppé par l’arme de Vāruṇa. Arjuna avait agi avec une extrême promptitude, et l’éclat brûlant de l’arme elle-même fit comme un voile ; ainsi les guerriers ne purent voir que Bhīma était cerné par le Vāruṇāstra.
