हयपृष्ठगताश्षान्ये कृष्यन्ते<र्थच्युतासना: । गजस्कन्धेषु संस्यूता नाराचैश्वनलितासना:

Transliteration

hayapṛṣṭhagatāś cānye kṛṣyante 'rthacyutāsanāḥ | gajaskandheṣu saṃsyūtā nārācaiś cānalitāsanāḥ ||

Translation

Yudhiṣṭhira dit : «Certains guerriers, assis sur le dos des chevaux, sont traînés après être tombés de leurs chars, leur siège ayant cédé. D’autres, juchés sur les épaules des éléphants, voient leur selle embrasée par des flèches nārāca. Telle est l’effroyable confusion du combat, où l’orgueil et le rang s’effondrent, et où la souffrance se donne à voir de tous côtés.»
