संजय उवाच
As a concluding colophon, the verse primarily signals structure, but it also highlights the ethical tension of rātriyuddha (night warfare), a setting where ordinary restraints weaken and the consequences of violent intent intensify—reminding the listener that war tests dharma most severely when clarity and restraint are hardest to maintain.
Sanjaya closes the chapter by stating that, within Droṇa Parva and specifically within the Ghaṭotkaca-slaying section, the 167th chapter has ended; its subject is the defeat of Alambusha during the night-battle episode.
