Droṇavadha-saṃniveśaḥ — The Convergence Toward Droṇa’s Fall
Book 7, Chapter 164
रथघोषेण महता नादयन् वसुधातलम् । पर्जन्य इव घर्मान्ति नादयन् वै दिशो दश
rathaghoṣeṇa mahatā nādayan vasudhātalam | parjanya iva gharmānte nādayan vai diśo daśa ||
Sañjaya dit : « Par le fracas immense des chars, il fit résonner la surface de la terre ; tel un nuage de tonnerre à la fin de la saison brûlante, il fit vraiment échoir les dix directions. »
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how overwhelming martial power and display can shake the world around it; ethically, it serves as a reminder that war’s force is not merely physical but also psychological, spreading fear and awe across all quarters.
Sañjaya describes a warrior’s advance or maneuver in battle: the thunderous rumble of chariots makes the earth and all directions reverberate, compared to monsoon-like thunder at the end of summer.
